Congratulations

I would like to congratulate one of my club members Daniela Bedenice for becoming the New England Regional Schutzhund 2 Champion with her dog Baron De La Cite Des Boston a Male Belgian Malinois (trained and bred at All-American K-9). Baron is also a French Ring 2 and came in 1st place at the French Ring competition in Pennsylvania 2 months before competing at the Regionals for SchH. Baron also had the highest protection score at the SchH Regional Championship.
Look for good things in the future from this dog!
Congrats Daniela through hard work and determination you are getting everything you deserve!!!!

K9 Detection Course

I had the honor of being one of the very few civilians allowed to attend the Vermont Criminal Justice Training Councils course for Police K9 Detection, held at the Vermont Police Academy September 21, 22, 23 2009.. The instructor for the course was Randy Hare (an expert in the field of Police K9 Detection work).
I also worked the Police Patrol K9's and was able to give some advice for their training in the area of criminal apprehension and control during the K9 being deployed to bite. The group of officers from New Hampshire and Vermont that were at attendance for this course were a great group of people and very experienced Police K9 Handlers! One of the K9 handlers was also the Chief of Police in his town, and working his 5th Police K9... You don't see that too often!
The Detection course was a great opportunity to gain more knowledge of detection and see another system of training that has been proven reliable and easy for the K9 to learn! I was able to run my dog Stitch through the paces and see first hand how easy and effective the system that Randy has developed in teaching and proofing dogs for detection work. I plan on using these techniques myself for training new police Detection and dual purpose K9's. I will also be using this method for some dogs that I have for the new course offered at All-American K-9 on "Nose Work" for pets.
I also would like to mention that my good friend Scott Williams from Beyond the Leash Dog Training in Boxford MA was at the course (we drove up together) and we got to share some training tips, and plan on working together in the future. Scott also offers a "Nose Work" for pets class at his location.
